Chief of Pediatric Neurology
Position Description:
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Chicago is recruiting a Pediatric Neurologist to lead the Section of Pediatric Neurology. The ideal candidate is an accomplished program builder and experienced leader with a strong background in all aspects of Pediatric Neurology who will support the Section's clinical, research and educational efforts. Individuals with a national reputation in scholarship with independent grant funding are preferred.

Special interests of the Section include the epilepsy center encompassing computational and cellular research programs, as well as the brain tumor program in association with Pediatric hematology/oncology, high resolution brain imaging and molecular neurogenetics. The Section also has a longstanding clinical and research collaboration with Adult Neurology, Neurosurgery, Genetics, Child Psychology and the interdisciplinary Committee on Neurobiology. The Section Chief will provide leadership, support and mentoring of faculty for an outstanding clinical and scholarly Section.

The Department of Pediatrics is committed to a balance between research and clinical activities. This is reflected in the growth of the Department of Pediatrics, which includes the state-of-the-art Comer Children's Hospital, a new Ambulatory facility and an extensive research space in the Knapp Center for Biomedical Discovery.

The successful candidate will 1) have an MD or MD/PhD, or equivalent, 2) be BC/BE by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Competency in Child Neurology, 3) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the state of Illinois, 4) have an outstanding record of research achievement and innovation and 5) have a firm commitment to clinical excellence.
