Job Description

Our client, one of the larger health systems serving NYC and surrounding Suburban areas with a prominent medical school, is hiring a Director or Senior Director of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control. The MD/DO Director of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control will have oversight of Infection Prevention and Control and the Antibiotic Stewardship Program for main campus and key sites within the health system. This position is supported by a team of doctors, nurses and non-clinical staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of Infection Prevention MDs for outbreaks, clusters, emerging pathogens, and occupational exposures
  • Oversight of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program for impatient and ambulatory, liaison with pharmacy
  • Provide Strategic planning, including oversight of risk assessment; regulatory issues and reporting
  • Serve as point person for contact with Department of Health and other regulatory agencies
  • Direct policy development, revision and implementation
  • Liaison for system hospitals and affiliates
  • Monitor hospital acquired infection
  • Chair the Infection Prevention & Control Committee
  • Provides consultation to other services, Occupational Health, Performance Improvement, Patient Safety, Environmental Health Services, EPIC/ IT, Regulatory Affairs
  • Serve as lead content expert for Bioterror & Emerging pathogens
  • Build educational agenda for Infectious Disease Physician, staff and other clinical stakeholders
  • 20% clinical effort, inpatient or outpatient at the discretion of the ID division chief
  • Provide oversight of Infection Prevention Nurses

Requirements:

  • Board certified in Infections Disease
  • Mid-career, Associate or Full Professor
  • 5+ years of experience in the practice of healthcare epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship, antibiotic resistance in an academic setting, public health or equivalent
  • MPH/MS, CDC EIS, CIC or other formal training in Epidemiology OR established history of research in related field
  • Experienced in methodologies of Quality and Performance Improvement
  • Established experience and skills in informatics and healthcare data analytics
  • Proven record of leadership of multidisciplinary health care teams
