Overview

The Medical Director, Wellpath Consultant is involved in assessing, planning, linking, monitoring, and advocating for each patient assigned to the clinicians with specific departments. Develops and conducts programs to provide education for conditions and problems relating to drug and alcohol abuse. Participates in interdisciplinary treatment planning conferences. Responsible for the comprehensive delivery of quality mental health care specific to hospital protocols. The Medical Director, Wellpath Consultant is responsible for the provision of mental health services at the hospital.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Osteopathic Doctor (DO) from an accredited university.

Experience:

  • Seven years of professional experience in providing services to persons with psychiatric disabilities, two years of which must have been at the administrative clinical level, assistant director or its equivalent.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Licensed in state of employment to practice medicine.
  • Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology

Responsibilities

  1. The Medical Director, Wellpath Consultant has supervision of psychiatric care and practices,

  2. Chairs MSO, Medical Executive Committee, and P&T committee, case conferences, second opinions, clinical leadership and representation of the MSO on other hospital committees and in hospital projects, task forces, and PI,

  3. Represents the hospital's clinical position and efforts to the community and the state, review of referrals for admission, liaison with advocates and families,

  4. Works closely with the hospital attorney.

  5. Advocates for patients.
