Trauma and Surgical Critical Care Medical Director

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Hillcrest

Baylor Scott and White Medical Center - Hillcrest is seeking an experienced General Surgeon and Trauma Medical Director for our Central Texas Division. This is a leadership position at our ACS-verified Level II Trauma Center in Waco, TX.

Candidates must be board certified in General Surgery, with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care, and with a history of medical director leadership capabilities.

The Opportunity:
  • Serves as the Medical Director of the Trauma Program and the Surgical Critical Care Program and provides or coordinates all medical, administrative, and consulting services for these surgical programs.
  • Candidates must have leadership, clinical, and administrative experience, with a focus on trauma and critical care to ensure quality treatment to all patients of the program.
  • 5 - 7 years of trauma and critical care surgery and leadership experience required.
  • Position will provide general oversight and medical quality review of the Trauma Program and the Surgical Critical Care Program.
  • Creates, maintains, and participates in the trauma, surgical care and trauma backup schedules.
  • Supervision of Trauma/Surgical Critical Care staff credentials, and maintenance of Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), and continuing medical education requirements for state and national designations.
  • Participates in trauma education and support of the nursing, allied health, and general population as instructed by hospital administration.

  • MD/DO degree
  • Fellowship training in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care or Acute Care Surgery
  • Board Certification by the American Board of Surgery or Osteopathic Board Certification
  • Texas Medical License
  • Fellow of the American College of Surgeons
  • Current in PALS; ATLS; BLS/ACLS
  • Experience in surgical care of trauma patients
