Cejka Executive Search has been exclusively retained by Sutter Health, one of California’s most comprehensive integrated healthcare systems, to assist in the recruitment of an innovative physician leader to serve as Chief Medical Executive, Health Plan Products.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer for Health Plan Products, the Chief Medical Executive, Health Plan Products will be a highly visible physician executive who will have overall responsibility for providing clinical leadership, strategy and direction in the areas of utilization, case management, disease management, quality improvement and pharmacy and behavioral health management to ensure high quality, cost effective health care services for its commercial products including Sutter Health Plus and Sutter Select, it’s self-funded ERISA plan covering Sutter employees and family members, and potentially, Medicare and MediCal products and their related populations. The Chief Medical Executive will serve as the clinical liaison representing health plan interests and strategic goals within Sutter Health and to external constituents. The Chief Medical Executive will also oversee accreditation and compliance activities to achieve national quality standards and will manage implementation of Corrective Action Plans as necessary for delegated functions. Additionally, the Chief Medical Executive is accountable for the administrative oversight and performance of Sutter Medical Network, comprised of Sutter Foundation aligned medical groups and IPAs, as it relates to sponsored and partnered products.

Successful candidates for this position will be physicians with proven leadership experience in highly regulated markets and who have a demonstrated success in risk assumption, establishing population health management programs and leading medical management programs that deliver quality outcomes and financial performance for a health plan. Board certification and an unrestricted medical license with ability to obtain licensure in California are required.
