The Deputy Chief Medical Officer:

• Reviews cases, determines medical necessity, and consults with physicians, review length of stay and reimbursement documentation
• Supports Case Management/UM department staff and nurse case managers on concurrent review and pre-authorization referrals and ensures that members receive
• Provides clinical support for Member and Provider appeals
• Builds a health informatics function and assures decisions are made according to data insights
• Leads redesign of field care coordination program based on utilization needs and results of outcome analyses of the current programs
• Assists in new technology assessment and clinical policy review as required
• Participates in the development of strategic planning for existing and expanding business
