MillicanSolutions, LLC, an AMN Healthcare Company and retained executive search firm specializing in pediatric executive and physician leadership seek an outstanding academic leader as the Chief, Pediatric Cardiology and Co-Director, Heart Center in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine (UCONN).

The new Chief will be charged with creating and implementing the vision for the Division of Pediatric Cardiology. The successful candidate should possess a proven track record in leadership, clinical excellence, patient care, education, mentorship and scholarly advancements in Cardiology research. The Division has strong, established clinical programs and research in the areas of fetal echo and Cardiac MRI. Candidates should be board certified in Pediatric Cardiology and eligible for licensure in the State of Connecticut. The academic appointment rank will be commensurate with the individual’s experience.

Key Highlights:
  • Pediatric Cardiology Division with 11 subspecialized physicians fully integrated within Children’s Specialty Group.
  • Established subspecialty programs in echocardiography, fetal echo, adult congenital, interventional cardiology, cardiac MRI, and electrophysiology.
  • In the summer of 2015, CCMC opened a new, state-of-the-art cardiovascular care center that tripled the existing footprint.
  • Established Fetal Cardiology program (represented by two cardiologists) who are currently expanding coverage into Western Connecticut and training fetal Sonographers and an MFM fellow.
  • Cardiovascular Service Line is being added to the other four key Service Lines of Hematology/Oncology, Neurosciences, Gastroenterology, and Nephrology/Urology.
  • Support for the establishment of an Endowed Chair in Pediatric Cardiology.
  • Inpatient Director of Cardiology interested in quality improvement has focused on programmatic improvements to maximize efficiency and improve quality of care.
  • Robust satellite clinic program with clinics in Glastonbury, Shelton, Danbury, Putnam, and Farmington.
  • Opportunities for growth in the future include establishment of a pediatric cardiology fellowship program, a preventative medicine program and/or a heart transplant program.

In addition, there is a state-of-the-art ambulatory surgery center, five specialty care centers and 10 practices across the state and in Massachusetts. Our Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center (56,000 visits annually) and Primary Care Center are the busiest between Boston and New York.
