The Care Engagement Behavioral Medical Director has two main areas of responsibility. Clinically, they provide oversight of a multidisciplinary team working to engage complex members in their recovery. They collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to consult on current processes and programs, as well collaborating on innovative project development. As a member of the Care Coordination and Engagement MD Team, the Medical Director uses their innovative and entrepreneurial skills to manage the development and implementation of affordable, evidence-based treatments and regional action planning. They use their communication and change-management skills to advise leadership on health care system improvement opportunities. Care Engagement activities include case consultation, participation in medical-behavioral integration activities, and participation in the development of case management innovation and evolution. Focusing on recovery and resiliency, works to improve the health of members and communities. Our clinical vision drives the team to improve the quality of care our consumers receive.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring delivery of cost-effective quality care that incorporates recovery, resiliency, and person-centered services
  • Coordination with matrixed entities to promote consistent best practice throughout the care continuum, bridging care fragmentation associated with system silos
  • Oversight and management, along with the Clinical Director and Clinical Program Director, of care coordination activities
  • Use their communication, engagement, motivational, and innovative skills to promote operational and clinical integration
  • Keep current regarding Evidence Based Practices and treatment philosophies including those that address Recovery and Resilience
  • Responsible for maintaining the clinical integrity of the program, including timely peer reviews and consultations with providers and other community-based clinicians, including general practitioners
  • Work collaboratively, using change-management skills, to promote timely human-centered care

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy
  • Current license to practice as a physician without restrictions
  • Demonstrated understanding of the clinical application of the principles of engagement, empowerment, rehabilitation, and recovery
  • Proven knowledge of post-acute care planning such as home care, discharge planning, case management, and disease management
  • Computer proficiency, solid data analytic skills, entrepreneurial acumen, and change-management experience
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is an essential job function of this role. Candidates located in states that mandate COVID-19 booster doses must also comply with those state requirements. Preferred Qualifications:

  • Board certified in Psychiatry
  • 3+ years of experience as a practicing psychiatrist post residency
  • Leadership experience in Public/Population Health and/or an MBA
  • Experience working across matrixed organizations to align operational and measurement goals
  • Experience in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry
