The department has a Center for Perinatal Medicine and Center for Fertility and Reproductive Surgery. Most recent figures show 40,000+ patient visits per year, approximately 700 gynecologic surgeries annually and 3,000 annual deliveries. As part of the Texas Tech Physicians OB/GYN Department, you will have an opportunity to work at University Medical Center in the East Tower (opened in 2012); the East Tower provides state-of-the-art facilities for antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum obstetrical patients and postoperative gynecological patients. The Gyn operating rooms are located in the main hospital adjacent to the East Tower. The hospital just acquired a new da Vinci® robot and has excellent laparoscopic equipment as well. The Center for Prenatal Medicine (CPM) features state-of-the-art equipment, 5 ultrasound techs, and a genetic counselor.

The OB/GYN Department at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center operates a faculty group practice at on off-campus site. Members of the faculty typically spend 1 to 3 half-days per week seeing private patients at this location. The remainder of the week would be divided between labor and delivery, CPM, and overseeing the resident clinic on campus. Teaching medical students and residents would be expected during those times. Lastly, there is a requirement for in-house call with a frequency of 3 to 4 times per month. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience. As a state institution, the benefits are exceptional, including paid malpractice, vacation, and sick leave. Professional development fund, and relocation expenses are also provided.
