The Paul L. Foster School of Medicine (PLFSOM) Department of Radiology at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC EL PASO) is seeking a fellowship-trained Radiologist in Breast/Women’s Imaging to serve as an Instructor or higher in the Department of Radiology. Reporting to the Chair of Radiology, the Women’s Imaging faculty member will foster an environment of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and delivery of clinical services.

The Department of Radiology:

TTUHSC El Paso is experiencing vibrant growth. The Department of Radiology’s subspecialties include Abdominal Imaging, Angiography and Interventional Radiology, Breast/Women's Imaging, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Emergency Radiology, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Neuroradiology, Nuclear Radiology, and Thoracic Radiology. The Department of Radiology’s graduate medical education program consists of Women’s Imaging and Body Imaging fellowships. Technical modalities of CT, MRI, and Ultrasound are incorporated into many of the subspecialty sections. Currently, the residency program has 11 residents.

University Medical Center (UMC), the primary teaching hospital, is a Level I trauma center and general hospital servicing El Paso County where radiology residents gain experience working with patients who have both common and complex medical problems. Operating in a filmless and paperless environment since 2005, the technology base of the department is state-of-the-art with the latest CT, MR, and information technology systems. Additionally, radiological services are now being provided at the university’s newest hospital partner, The Hospitals of Providence-Transmountain Campus, a new full-service, 106-bed general acute care hospital in a rapidly growing part of El Paso.

Your Mission as the Breast / Women's Imaging:

The Breast / Women’s Imaging faculty member will have the opportunity to continue the growth and expansion of clinical and educational services, and participate in clinical research. Provides clinical services and teaching of diagnostic radiology and Breast and Women's Imaging while mentoring and instructing residents, fellows, and medical students in research projects as assigned. Required Education/Certifications/Licensure

  • M.D. / D.O. degree

  • Texas Medical License or eligibility for Texas Medical Licensure

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency program in diagnostic radiology or equivalent

  • Competent in all imaging modalities utilized in breast imaging including digital mammography, breast tomosynthesis, magnetic resonance imaging, and image-guided breast procedures

  • Education, training, and experience required by the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) for physicians interpreting breast imaging

Preferred Qualifications

  • Board certified in Diagnostic Radiology by the American Board of Radiology

  • Completion of 1-year fellowship training in Breast Imaging/Women's Imaging

  • Regional or emerging, national reputation (only for candidates seeking the rank of associate professor or professor)
