Brookwood Baptist Health is actively seeking additional Internal Medicine faculty physicians to train residents in its Internal Medicine and Transitional Year Residency programs in Birmingham, AL.

We are currently recruiting for two available types of IM faculty positions:

  1. Traditional Core Faculty
  2. Hospitalist Core Faculty

Brookwood Baptist Health’s Residency Program has prepared residents for practice in Internal Medicine and its subspecialties since 1972. Our program is academic an academically robust community program that trains compassionate, clinically, and culturally competent physicians who are prepared to serve the community and are motivated to lead. Our graduates are prepared to continue in sub-specialty training, to advocate for their patients, and to practice in a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings.

The faculty of the BBH Internal Medicine Residency Program include outstanding teachers and clinicians with years of experience in both academic medicine and private practice. A core of faulty members with a full-time commitment to the program in each hospital is supplemented by excellent and enthusiastic volunteer faculty. Chief Medical Residents (CMR) recruited from our program assist with educational programs such as providing didactic lectures each month to medical students and coordinating topics for morning report. In addition, CMRs work hand-in-hand with full-time faculty members to establish and carry out program policies. CMRs are provided excellent opportunities to assist with patient care activities by serving as clinic supervisors and attending on the inpatient medicine service.

Candidate Requirements:

  • MD or DO
  • Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine (Note: Subspecialists in Internal Medicine are also encouraged to apply and are expected to maintain their board certification in Internal Medicine)
  • Willingness to participate in scholarly activities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Candidates with resident teaching experience and others with unique experiences are encouraged to apply
