Job Description

Abilene, Texas offers a high quality of life both professionally and personally. BC/BE Palliative Care physician needed to practice at the largest regional medical center within 150 mile radius.  Practicing physicians and new graduates will be considered. Relocation, marketing, sign-on bonus and stipend are available.  Applicants MUST have strong Texas ties.

Compensation

  • Full-time annual salary of $224,771

  • $100 per documented hour for covering Hospice outside of normal hours

  • Potential Annual Quality Incentive ($10K)

  • Sign-on bonus ($25K)

    • $5k upon signing a contract with HMC

    • $15k to be paid after first payroll cycle following your first day of work

    • $5k upon submitting all required documentation needed to complete credentialing for the hospital as well as HPN

  • Relocation assistance (up to $15K)

  • Marketing to the region and community

  • Full Benefit Package (Health, Dental, Vision, LTD, STD, Critical Illness, Life Insurance, Retirement, etc.)

  • 30 days of Designated Time Off and 18 weeks of Extended Illness Bank hours

  • TX License Renewal Fee Reimbursement (up to $2K)

  • Malpractice Coverage (includes tail coverage)

  • CME ($5K and 5 days each year)

Summary of Position

  • Full Time Position, 40 hours (8 to 5; 5 days a week)

  • Shared Call schedule  (1:4)

  • Consists of : In-patient palliative care rounding, In-patient hospice rounding and Hospice homecare pain & symptom coverage

  • Care team includes: Program Manager, Clinical Social Worker, Nurse Practitioner, Part-time physician. 

  • Palliative Care Model is a hospital-based, consultative team, scatterbed model, with an average of 100 consults per month. The palliative program also includes a small social work led outpatient program, oncology clinic and community SNF collaboration.

  • The culture is supportive of palliative medicine both administratively as well as medically. The physician base as come to value both our perspective and input on patient care with specialties ranging from family med to nephrology to oncology to neurosurgery. Other fellows praise the Hendrick environment as warm and friendly with a welcoming atmosphere.
