The Statewide Hepatitis C Clinical Leader coordinates all Hepatitis C (HCV) treatment within the
New Mexico Corrections Department (NMCD).

Position Summary:
  • The Clinician will ensure all relevant patients are ordered their diagnostic tests/treatments/follow-up in a timely manner including writing/obtaining orders and linking with both Wexford physicians and the Project ECHO team.
  • He/she has accountability for multiple clinical and administrative protocols for HCV infection prevention,
  • diagnosis, and treatment.
  • He/she participates in assessing/tracking the trend of Hepatitis C and
  • the trend for treatment.
  • Reviews and updates company HCV guidelines, state protocols, and Hepatitis C surveillance/treatment data.
  • The Clinician will be an important liaison with the New Mexico Corrections Department and will direct the HCV care within NMCD.
LICENSURE: Current New Mexico Medical license or Nurse Practitioner license
preferred
Current DEA preferred
EDUCATION: Medical degree or graduate of college/university Advanced Practical
Nurse program preferred
EXPERIENCE: 3 years clinical experience preferred. Correctional healthcare
experience a plus. Previous professional supervisory or administrative
experience preferred
CERTIFICATION: Current CPR certification required. Current New Mexico licensure to
practice medicine preferred.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
OFFICE General office environment and medical setting in a correctional facility, which
includes interfacing with inmates, correctional staff, and health care
personnel. Temperature extremes may be encountered while moving
throughout the facility outdoors and indoors in buildings without air
conditioning.
TRAVEL Travel throughout the state is required.
