Envision Physician Services is seeking Hospitalists to join our collegial team at Methodist Hospital in San Antonio.

We are seeking a full-time dedicated and experienced Hospitalist Physician to join our Methodist Main Hospital Medicine program. As a Hospitalist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, comprehensive care to patients admitted to the hospital. Your expertise in managing acute and chronic conditions, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, and ensuring effective patient flow will contribute to delivering exceptional patient outcomes and experiences.

Responsibilities:

  1. Physician Staffing:

    • Provide physician staffing coverage for the program, including:
      • 15-day shifts
      • 2-night shifts
  2. APP (Advanced Practice Provider) Staffing:

    • Provide oversight for APP staffing, including:
      • 1-night shift
  3. Open ICU Management:

    • Collaborate with Intensivists to manage the Open ICU, ensuring 24/7 coverage.
    • Maintain communication with Intensivists through on-site presence or availability by phone.
    • Coordinate with the Intensivist team for admissions and consultations.
    • Act as the primary attending for patients in the Open ICU, overseeing their care.
  4. Code and Procedure Responsibilities:

    • Hospitalists are not responsible for codes; the responsibility lies with the ED physicians.
    • Hospitalists may perform procedures if they are privileged and have the necessary time available.
  5. Round and Go Model:

    • Participate in a round and go model, where admissions are managed through call blocks.
    • Share call responsibilities with other physicians, with some days without on-call duties.
    • Round on assigned patients and provide timely dispositions.
  6. Patient Admissions:

    • Collaborate with the ED physicians for patient admissions.
    • Participate in swing shifts from 3 pm to 7 pm.
    • No daytime APP support for admissions.
  7. Patient Census:

    • Manage an average daily census of 18-22 encounters per day.
    • Ensure thorough documentation and accurate record-keeping using electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Qualifications:

  • Board certification or eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
  • Must be a valid US Citizen or Permanent Resident. Unfortunately we cannot consider J-1 or H-1B Visa holders at this hospital.
  • Demonstrated experience in hospital medicine and managing acute and chronic conditions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
