Cross Country Locums (fdba MDA) is seeking OB/GYN Hospitalist coverage in Los Angeles County California. 8-10 shifts per month.

Requirements: CA License; BC with a minimum of 2-3 years active experiences.
Hours: 10a-10a
EMR: Cerner

Shift Rotation: F/T on average 7-8 non-consecutive in-house shifts per month

Duties: High Risk Obstetrical Services OB/Gyn Hospitalist responsible for all emergent general unassigned OB/GYN needs presenting to the ED that would typically be referred to a local OB/GYN, accept in-house consults, perform rounds on all of program’s patients in house, conduct post-surgical follow up in the hospital sponsored clinic. Most patients have had prenatal care from the hospital-sponsored clinic for unassigned and/or MediCal patients ten (10) hours a week (down from 16 hours a week) to see high-risk patients referred by the clinics’ OB Nurse Practitioners and Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs).

Responsibilities: Shifts are 24 hours in length, the provider must remain in-house during their shift Manage unassigned OB patients that present to L&D and the main ER Provide coverage of Obstetric emergencies Manage unassigned GYN patients that present to the Main ER Triage of all unassigned patients and for private physicians when requested Perform Antepartum, Post-partun and GYN rounds on unassigned patients tHospitalist service Inpatient consults Provide emergent GYN surgery services for patients that present to the Main ER (ex. Ruptured ectopic pregnancies, overian torsion, incomplete Ab, etc.) Call Coverage for Community Providers as needed Provide coverage of Obstetric emergencies for the private physician patients when they are not immediately available Work as an Extension of Private Practice Mid-level Emergency Support Mid-level supervision Nursing Simulations/Drills Assist private physicians when requested based on availability Serve as assistant-surgeons for C-sections as needed Clinic coverage as needed one or two days per week Conduct post-surgical follow up visits and see high risk OB/GYN patients in the hospital sponsored clinic Ideal candidate is a physician who will support the staff and work in a collegial manner while being fully proficient in women’s health. Provide evidence based care to all patients. Provide support and learning opportunities for the staff, which includes participation in drills and simulations. Physicians need to be comfortable with impromptu teaching, a team player who understands providing good medicine is just the first step in the hospitalist model. A willingness to work with either OB/GYN or Family Medicine residents. Candidates should have some flexibility in their availability. Each provider is expected to help in covering weekends and holidays. Current laparoscopy skills are required.
