Hospital in southeastern Iowa is in need of hospitalist coverage starting as early as August. If you’re licensed in Iowa we can get you started immediately. If you need an Iowa license we can assist with the process to help you procure one within approximately 4-6 weeks. The hourly rate for this position is very competitive and we offer flexible scheduling, as we currently have physicians working both 12 and 24 hour shifts. Hospitalist Position– Located in southeastern Iowa
Acceptable Specialty:
Internal Medicine or Family Medicine
Certifications requirements:
Board Certification is preferred, but BE is acceptable Client is willing to License – should take approximately 4 weeks to obtain license.
Availability:
7 on 7 off starting ASAP
Need physicians willing to work blocks
Credentialing:
1 week to obtain privileges. Emergency privileges can be issued in 24 hours by the CEO under specific circumstances.
Schedule:
7a-7p, 7p-7a (flexible with 12 or 24 hour shifts)
Patient census:
Admitting physician: less than 10
Rounding physician: avg 12-18
Average 6-8 admits per 24 hour period, 2-3 admits per night shift
Patient mix:
50% Medicare
50% Medicaid
28% Private/Self Pay/Other
Procedures:
Vent management required; A lines, C lines
Duties:
Standard hospitalist work. Hospitalists are a part of the code team
ICU setting:
Yes, hospitalists round and admit to the ICU. The ICU is 11 beds
Specialists on staff:
Gen Surg, Neurology (when on call, or will do consult the next day), urology, cardiology, ortho. Will soon have 24/7 telepsych and teleneurology
Current situation:
Using locum tenens coverage while recruiting for permanent physicians
# of physicians in clinic/program:
3 day physician, one night physician

Meditech EMR
