Duties as Palliative Physician (70%)

• Provide specialized care to patients with serious chronic illnesses
• Help patients and families improve quality of life by addressing symptom needs and defining care goals
• Facilitate coordination of care
• Provide inpatient consults and palliative care medicine referrals
• The daily palliative census is 18-24
• Team-oriented, a multidisciplinary group including nurse practitioners, licensed clinical social workers
• Full-time, 8 am to 5 pm. No on-call currently
• Opportunity for paid Hospice call

Duties as Medical Director (30%)

• Provides clinical leadership and expertise to the palliative medicine team
• Serves as collaborating physician for advanced practice clinicians/nurse practitioners on the palliative medicine team
• Oversight of the work of the palliative medicine clinical team members
• Regular team meetings to discuss programmatic/operational and staff issues
• Collaboration with administrative leadership related to strategic planning, budget development, and quality metric development and monitoring to evaluate program effectiveness
