Job Description

Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN), located in eastern Pennsylvania, is seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Palliative Medicine and Hospice. A successful candidate will be a board-certified palliative medicine physician with at least five years’ experience. A collaborative mindset, passion for exceptional patient care and team focus will be essential. Responsibilities will include an 80/20 split of clinical and administrative time and oversight of 5 physicians and 12 advanced practice clinicians. Our new chief will have responsibility for the section’s clinical operations and educational mission and hold a leadership position within the LVHN Department of Medicine. Academic appointment is available.

The 800-bed main campus of LVHN is located one hour north of Philadelphia and 90 minutes west of NYC. Within a 50-mile radius, LVHN has six hospital campuses and a growing primary care referral base. U.S. News & World Report has ranked LVHN among America’s Top Hospitals for 22 consecutive years

The Section of Palliative Medicine and Hospice at LVHN offers a palliative care continuum, including a robust inpatient consult service, a nationally-known home-based service, an office practice and our own hospice. In addition, we offer a Palliative Medicine Fellowship, using education to change the culture around serious illness care. The program has experienced significant growth and remarkable accomplishments during the last several years, including the Circle of Life Award. Presently, we are expanding our services to meet the needs of our patients while integrating with a broad portfolio of other network-offered programs.

At LVHN, the palliative medicine team is well-supported by leadership, hospitalists, primary care physicians and all major subspecialties. The chief position works closely with the section administrator; the leadership dyad supports the umbrella of services in palliative medicine and aligns closely with hospice administration.

The Lehigh Valley, one of the fastest growing regions in Pennsylvania, offers a blend of suburban charm and urban sophistication along with excellent schools and affordable housing. For more information, please contact Aisha Al-Hommoud at [Register to View] or e-mail your CV to [Register to View] .
