The Role

StemExpress is currently looking for a Medical Director/Bone Marrow Proceduralist , preferably specializing in Orthopedics or Occupational Medicine for contract work. The Medical Director/Bone Marrow Proceduralist is responsible for participant care, clinical outcomes, and the implementation and oversight of the quality assessment and performance improvement. Successful Medical Director/Bone Marrow Proceduralist will work closely with the executive management team to implement strategies that enhance patient care and improve the medical practice. Additionally, Medical Directors/Bone Marrow Proceduralists have the option to perform on-site, pre-scheduled bone marrow aspirations (approximately 100ml total volume) from two sites on the iliac crest of donors. StemExpress will train you to perform this procedure if needed.

When performing aspirations, all necessary tools and resources will be provided by StemExpress. You would not be required to prescribe medicine, order lab test, or do blood work, although you will be required to administer a local anesthetic. Medications such as Heparin and Lidocaine will be ordered through your license. The aspiration procedures would be scheduled on specific days to allow you flexibility with outside contracting or employment.

Physician may also administer subcutaneous injections of G-CSF and/or Plerixafor for 2-5 days prior to an apheresis collection. The amount given of each drug will be within the recommended prescribing doses for each. Physician may also prescreen donors with the assistance of StemExpress staff for any predefined exclusionary conditions or allergies.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with team to educate them on our care process and determine process improvement as needed
  • Act as the medical expert in dealings with vendors and non-medical facilities
  • Manage the number of activities related to the delivery of medical care and clinical services such as cost management, utilization review, quality assurance, and medical protocol development
  • Participate in various administrative, clinical staff meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participant, medical staff, and employee information
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors
  • Develop policies and procedures
  • Perform on-site, prescheduled bone marrow aspirations
  • Administer subcutaneous injections of G-CSF and/or Plerixafor
  • Prescreen donors

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must have and maintain a valid license to practice medicine.
  • Must be able to present a loss run report for the past 5 years
  • Must maintain malpractice insurance for any practice of medicine outside of StemExpress contract
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superb judgement, problem-solving and cognitive skills
