A prestigious Cancer & Research Institute is inviting applications, M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. for a full time faculty position in the Department of Hematopathology and Laboratory Medicine. This Cancer & Research Institute is a NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center with nationally recognized Programs in Hematologic Malignancies and Bone Marrow Transplantation, and the candidates will also be members of this multidisciplinary team of physicians and scientists, with opportunities to join established basic research programs, as well as excellent opportunities for translational research in areas of related interest. The candidates will interact with interdisciplinary physicians, medical students, residents, and fellows, and participate in multidisciplinary case conferences.

Successful candidates must be eligible to qualify as a Director as sanctioned by the American Society of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ASHI) and the American Board of Histocompatibility and Immunogenetics (ABHI). Fellowship training in Transfusion Medicine, possession of a doctoral degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or prior experience as a Director in a HLA Laboratory is highly recommended. Certification in clinical or combined anatomic/clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology or the American Osteopathic Board of Pathology or other appropriate medical board is required as well as having at least two years of full-time post-doctoral laboratory training or experience in immunology, histocompatibility, immunogenetics, or a related field, or a residency in clinical or combined anatomic/clinical pathology or other related medical specialty, and have at least 2 years full time post-doctoral training in directing or supervising high complexity testing in human histocompatibility and immunogenetics in an ASHI accredited or approved lab. The Cancer & Research Institute supports a large Hematologic Malignancy Program with strong emphasis on myelodysplasia, acute leukemia and lymphoma, as well as a strong Blood and Marrow Transplant Program that performs related and unrelated donor allogeneic stem cell transplants, as well as umbilical cord blood and haplotype matched transplants. The successful candidate will oversee a growing Histocompatibility Laboratory, participate in conferences with the transplant physicians, review typing results, and contribute to our educational and research activities. The candidate must have strong skill sets in transplant immunology, immunogenetics and histocompatibility laboratory testing, as well as demonstrated knowledge of molecular techniques, including PCR, probe hybridization testing methodology and DNA sequencing. Excellent opportunities for basic and clinical research collaboration exist. Experience in a multidisciplinary university clinical setting is preferred. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Missouri is required.
