We have an exceptional opportunity for a Hematologist/Oncologist Physician to join Veteran Health Indiana at the VA Medical Center located in Indianapolis, IN.

Qualifications of the VA Physician

Only one active, unrestricted state license is required to work in any VA facility.

United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for managing Hematology/Oncology care in both outpatient and inpatient settings. He/she will evaluate, diagnose, consult, and order appropriate diagnostic studies and treatments for Hem/Onc. patients and provide emergency Hem/Onc. services as agreed or designated. The incumbent will provide consultative evaluations and treatments to patients referred from other sections of the hospital and/or affiliated VA Outpatient clinics, and perform administrative functions and other tasks as assigned by the Associate Chief of Staff of Acute Medical Service to meet the needs of the medical center.

Provide oversight and direction for advanced practice nurses assigned to hem/onc. Service and act as a collaborating physician if requested for same

Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday - Friday. Must be on-call 24/7 by phone consultation as needed.
