Regional health system known for high-quality cancer program is currently seeking a GYN Oncology Nurse Practitioner to join its team.

The comprehensive community cancer program diagnoses and treats over 2,500 new analytic cases each year across the cancer service line. Our comprehensive cancer care and supportive services include well-attended, disease-specific, multidisciplinary tumor boards, supported by a patient-centered, team approach to cancer care. This includes our social workers, nutritionists/dieticians, physical and occupational therapy and oncology rehabilitation, financial and genetics counseling, oncology nurse navigators, patient and family advocates and other support programs. Additionally, we participate in a large number of cancer clinical trials, including industry and cooperative groups, as well as active participants and members of The Johns Hopkins Clinical Research Network.

Position Objective:

The GYN Oncology Nurse Practitioner will assess patients, formulate, implement, and evaluate care plans in the management of GYN Oncology patients’ surgical and medical oncology care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary Women’s Oncology team. With an emphasis on surgical/acute and ambulatory care in both the inpatient and ambulatory setting. Services are provided under the rules, regulations, and policies established by the approved advanced practice registered nurses’ scope of practice in the State of Maryland, MBON, HCFA, ANA, AAHS and other regulatory agencies.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Provides education and counsel appropriate to the medical needs of the patient.
  2. Maintains current licensure and continuing medical education credits as required by Maryland State Law.
  3. Communicates treatment / therapy progress with individuals who have the responsibility or control in patient care intervention.
  4. Refers patients to appropriate licensed physician or other health care provider as condition or circumstances warrant.
  5. Performs duties in accordance with established routine procedures as set forth by the State of Maryland, BPQA (Board of Physicians Quality Assurance), AMA (American Medical Association), HCFA, and AAHS policies.
