Instructor/Genetic Counselor – F14380

The Department of Human & Molecular Genetics Virginia Commonwealth University Health System seeks a full-time Instructor/Genetic Counselor, non-tenure track, in the Division of Clinical Genetics.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Clinical: This faculty member will perform day-to-day coverage of clinical rotations in Genetic Counseling in a variety of hospital and outpatient Genetic Counselors encounter wide variety of genetic conditions as we are the only facility within the Greater Richmond area that offers medical genetics services.
  • Teaching: The successful candidate will teach students in the Masters of Genetic Counseling Program.
  • Service: The successful candidate will participate in conferences with clinical Participation in departmental, institutional and national committees is encouraged, when necessary.

The successful candidate will report to and work closely with the Director of the Genetic Counseling Master’s Program and Associate Director of Clinical Genetics Services to further the mission and vision of the Department of Human& Molecular Genetics, Clinical Genetics Division.

Required Qualifications

Prospective candidates should have superb Genetic Counseling skills and the drive to excel in scholarly & teaching activities. Participation in the Masters of Genetic Counseling program is required.

  • Licensed Clinical Genetic Counselor with Board certification in Genetic Counseling is required.
  • Candidates must be qualified for full, unrestricted Genetic Counseling licensure in Virginia.
  • The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience working inland fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU is required.

Preferred Qualifications

Expertise in Genetic Counseling with ability to provide coverage of clinical rotations.

Preference will be given to candidates with clinical experience and an interest and/or ability in teaching and scholarly activity as displayed through publication in professional journals and presentations at national meetings.
