Job Purpose

The Clinical Genomics physician will manage the medical reporting development effort with focus on actionable variants, report semantics, interaction with clients & validation. This role will involve working on projects requiring in-depth knowledge of both Mendelian, de novo mutations, and complex trait genomics.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Ensures up-to-date knowledge on medical genetics
  • Participates in the interest group of bioinformaticians and machine learning specialists to ensure state of the art annotation of the human genome
  • Identify and develop mitigation plans to address quality issues that may arise related to the genomic reports
  • Establish state-of-the-art and actionable variant and clinical result interpretation and to interact with medical geneticists
  • Review and return results to Human Longevity clients
  • Provide ongoing clinical support within the practice and also via telemedicine modalities (e.g. phone, email, video chat)
  • Partner with our team of nurses, technologists, and clinicians in a client-centered model, help clients set genomic-driven goals, and support daily clinical work
  • Effectively communicate the Human Longevity model and products to prospective clients and employees
  • Contribute to consolidated report development for quality control purposes
  • Develop physician education curriculum
  • Assist in training and development of internal and external primary care and specialist physicians committed to delivery of genomics-based, technology-driven medicine
  • Supervise genetic counselors

Minimum Qualifications (Must have)

  • MD or MD/PhD
  • American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics-certified/eligible Clinical Geneticist.
  • Expertise acquired from working with NextGen sequencing data and expertise in genome-wide association studies.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills, with great attention to detail and record keeping in both lab notebook and electronic documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Data management expertise
  • Background in computer sciences, and/or bioinformatics a plus
  • Experience with clinical studies, family studies
  • Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin
  • Self-Starter
  • A record of scholarly contributions in clinical, translational or basic genetic research is preferred
  • Able to work with data programmers, IT specialists, and research analysts
