ABINGDON, VA (Program Director) - Family Medicine w/ Obstetrics Opportunity
Currently seeking an Associate Program Director for a 6-6-6 Family Medicine Residency Program established in 2015 and based in a 116-bed community hospital. This is an employed position for the Johnston Memorial Hospital Family Medicine Residency Program, located in historic Abingdon, Virginia.
The ideal candidate must be Family Medicine board certified with experience in full-scope family medicine including obstetrics and a desire to provide patient care in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Fellowship training preferred, but not required. Physician must have previous experience in academic medicine and have a strong commitment to graduate medical education.
This is a full-time position with the following required duties: handling administrative duties for the GME program, which includes resident supervision in the clinic and hospital, attendance at meetings, candidate interviews, curriculum development, and research; and direct patient care and clinical activities working with our residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The main focus of this position will primarily be the teaching of residents, but will also have responsibilities for teaching medical students and oversight of advanced practice providers.
