Endocrinologist – Clinical Educator - F59030

The Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism of Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine seeks applicants for an open Clinical Educator position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The qualified individual should be Board Eligible/Board Certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism and be eligible for a license to practice medicine in Virginia. This position is expected to focus on clinical activities and medical education. The candidate will contribute to the teaching responsibilities of the Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism, and support the overall academic and clinical mission of the University. Interest in investigator-initiated and sponsored clinical research is encouraged. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, ability of working in a multidisciplinary team, and interest in the care of patients living with diabetes. The predicted workload will be approximately 50 % diabetes care and 50% endocrinology.

The Division of Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism has ongoing research programs on thyroid disorders, energy metabolism, bone and mineral metabolism, obesity and nutrition. The candidate will have access to whole room indirect calorimeters, inpatient and outpatient Clinical Research Unit, and to a research laboratory to perform hormone assays for research purpose.

The candidate must have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
