- The Wall Street Journal named Memphis one of the Top Cities for Livability. They described Memphis as the best work/play mix.
Music: Memphis is know as the "Birth Place of Rock n' Roll" and "Home of the Blues", but we have so much more to offer. Between our music festivals (Memphis in May Music Fest, Mempho Fest, Head Bangers Ball, etc.), museums (Sun Studios, the STAX Museum, and Graceland), free shows (check out Levitt Shell), and outdoor venues (Live at the Garden and Mud Island Amphitheater) we have something for every music enthusiast. Lets not forget about the infamous Beale Street! AS you stroll down Beale your ears will be filled with the sounds of Rock, Jazz, Blues, Gospel and everything in between. But don't forget to take in the Beale St. Flippers acrobatics.

Sports: If you can't bring yourself to switch your NBA allegiances to the Memphis Grizzlies, than at least you can see your favorite home team when they come to play us at the FedEx Forum. The University of Memphis now has the beloved Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway coaching our Tigers in men's basketball, and a Tigers football team that is currently nationally ranked. Memphis also has their hat in the diamond with AAA team Memphis Redbirds. If you are worried that we forgot about soccer, don't be! With Memphis' 901 FC, we have that covered too!

Food: Memphis is know for BBQ (as it should be), but we have also won the distinction of Best Doughnut (Gibson's Donuts, ask Alton Brown) and best fried chicken (Gus' Fried Chicken). We also have award winning chefs Andy Ticer & Michael Hudman (Andrew Michael's Kitchen, Gray Canary, Katherine and Mary's, Hog + Hominy), Kelley English (Restaurant Iris), and Erling Jensen (Erling Jensen's). We have Gastro Pubs (Local and South of Beale) and farm to table options (Bounty on Broad, City Silo, and Sweet Grass to name a few).

Entertainment: For the Golfer, there are 35 golf courses in Memphis and surrounding area. Outdoors men will enjoy Shelby Farms Park, the nation's 2nd largest urban park (paddle boarding, hiking, running, bike trails, fishing, horseback riding, zip lining and more), the Memphis Green line (A city wide bike and running trail), and kayaking or canoeing in the Wolf River. Memphis is also home to several breweries with HUGE fan followings (High Cotton, Memphis Made Brewing, WISEACRE,etc.). If you like fun and unique settings then you want to check out Railgarten, Carolina Watershed, Loflin Yard, The Gameroom, and Civil Axe).

The Arts: Our Orpheum Theater and Cannon Center regularly host Broadway's top shows and other musical acts. With our Dixon Art Museum, Brooks Museum, and Broad Avenue Arts District it's no wonder our Arts Scene is ranked #5 in the country. Our film festival was also ranked as "one of the coolest in the world!" We also have a thriving Opera scene that celebrates 30 Days of Opera every year with pop up performances around town.

For the Kids: There is the Pink Palace Museum which sits on the founder of Piggly Wigglys palatial estate (IMAX theater, a planetarium, and many science exhibits). The Children's Museum of Memphis is an interactive museum for children of all ages. One of Memphis' most endearing activities for children is the Peabody Duck Parade that occirs every day and has been featured on shows such as The Oprah Winfrey Show. If your child is obsessed with animals, then the Memphis ZOO is a must see! It is ranked one of the TOP TEN in the country!

Schools: Memphis offers plethora of award winning private schools (Hutchinson, St. Mary's, MUS, and CBHS) and nationally recognized public schools on our suburbs (Germantown, Collierville, and Arlinton).
