As a medical director at USACS, you will be responsible for collaborating with the hospital and nursing leadership while offering support to your physician staff. Not only will you serve as a leader within the emergency room, you will also serve as a leader within the organization. Details

  • Oversee the operations of the ED in collaboration with nursing leadership and hospital administration
  • Supervise the EM staff, per the bylaws, policies and procedures of the institution
  • Represent the ED in the community and within the hospital medical staff

  • Modern, full-service hospital specializes in obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, behavioral sciences, oncology, emergency medicine, cardiology and diagnostic imaging
  • All major specialties are represented including cardiology and surgical subspecialties
  • Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
  • Forbes Cardiology Diagnostic Center
  • EMS/Paramedic training programs, providing medical command to 10 local squads; EMS teaching options are available for interested physicians
  • Responsive lab and x-ray; radiology is situated adjacent to the emergency department
  • Advanced Cardiac Care program including interventional cardiac catheterization and open heart
  • Newly accredited Chest Pain Center, first in the region
  • Joint Commission certified as Level II Stroke Center with telemedicine affiliation with the Allegheny General Hospital
  • Advanced CT imaging, 64-slice Siemens CT imaging device adjacent to the Emergency department
  • 24-hour ultrasound technician service, Anesthesiologist coverage, Pediatric, Hospitalist coverage, & Intensivist service
  • Full-Time EMS Medical Director
  • Inpatient Mental Health Unit with 4 dedicated mental health rooms in ED with intake psychiatric coverage

Emergency Department

  • ED Volume: 41,000
  • 32% admission rate
  • Level II Trauma Center designation with full-time trauma services
  • Broad community patient pathology includes cardiac, geriatric, medical, orthopedic, and pediatric patients with minimal trauma
  • ED newly renovated with a total of 38 rooms and a dedicated physician triage area
  • Department is situated in a functional layout that includes two nurse’s stations with certified emergency nurses
  • Bedside ultrasound capability
  • Advanced airway videolaryngoscopy available (Glidescope)
  • 12 ECG transmission receiving units in ED
  • Advanced hypothermia capability
  • Decontamination room with exterior access
  • Paramedic response vehicle providing ALS response services to local ambulance services
