Emergency Medicine opening in ME
Located in Caribou
200m to Bangor
Full-time; permanent

Seeking two full-time BE/BC Emergency Room Physicians to work in our 24-hour ED which sees about 16,000 visits per year.
The ED is a Level II trauma center, and sees a wide variety of cases, however, major trauma, cardiac, neurosurgery and other critical cases are transported to a tertiary care center. The physicians and nursing staff are specially trained in emergency medicine. The department has one trauma room and 11 exam rooms. Although patients are seen in order of severity of illness, a PA or Nurse Practitioner may see patients with less urgent needs.

The ER physicians develop their own schedules, generally working three shifts one week and four the next. In addition to working a full-time schedule, Cary can
offer a flexible staffing model, such as per diem, and part-time; working site visits are welcomed. Currently, there are five full-time ER physicians on staff.

The majority of our ER patients are elderly with cardiac and respiratory complaints comprising a good portion of our visits, along with the expected primary care and emergent care visits. Our largest patient transfers consist of psychiatric, trauma, neurosurgical, and emergency cardiac situations.
Hospital utilizes the services of a fixed-wing air ambulance service with a 40-minute in-air time to Bangor, Maine, location of Eastern Maine Medical Center, the nearest Level 1 Trauma Center and Cardiac Cath Lab.

The ER physicians are employees of the hospital and are paid on an hourly basis, negotiable based on experience. The hospital will pay a portion of the health insurance for the physician and will pay the full amount of malpractice insurance. Additionally, the hospital will pay up to $600/year for professional licensing and subscriptions. The candidate will receive six weeks for vacation, CME, sick and holiday time to be used on an annual basis. The hospital will also provide CME of up to $2,500 per year and relocation assistance. Education loan repayment is paid in six-month increments and is typically spread out over the life of the initial agreement.

Opportunity requirements:
*Board certified or board eligible in Emergency Medicine or board certified or
board eligible with a primary care board with ED experience.
* HIB and J1 Visa candidates will be considered.
