Ghost RX is currently searching for a Family Practice or Internal Medicine Physician to work at Bruceton Mills Federal Correctional Center in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia.
  • Begin as soon as credentialed for 120 working days with an option to extend
  • Work hours are 7.5 to 10 hours per day M-F between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm (30 minute lunch)
  • 3 years’ experience in acute care, ambulatory care, Medical/Surgical or psychiatric care facility. Prefer someone who has correctional experience but no necessary
  • Must have BLS. ACLS preferred but not required.
  • Physician Services will be performed in the Health Service Department at the FCC Hazelton to include the United States Penitentiary (USP), the Federal Correctional Institute (FCI), the Secure Female Facility (SFF), and the Satellite Prison Camp (SPC), Sky View Drive, Bruceton Mills, WV.

Provide Physician services which includes, but is not limited to: comprehensive assessment and management of uncomplicated acute and stable chronic health problems of inmates, performs initial comprehensive medical and psycho-social screening, physical examination and risk evaluation of inmates; may conduct daily sick call; provide a wide range of emergency services, including primary care for trauma and life-saving procedures; performs minor surgical procedures such as: incision and drainage; suturing of lacerations; removal of cysts; and removal/repair of ingrown toe nails; prescribes medications and treatment for illnesses: establishes diagnostic impressions and requests appropriate diagnostic tests (e.g., laboratory, x-ray, visual acuity and electrocardiogram) and ability to interpret results and selected laboratory findings to include the following: Clinical Laboratory-urinalysis, complete blood counts, staining and examination of smears for bacteria, blood glucose, audio hearing test; Radiology - preliminary interpretation of radiographs to identify gross abnormalities such as fractures, etc.; Optometry - screening for distance and near vision by use of charts and visual screening machines; Electrocardiograph Operations - operates electrocardio-graphic machine and has basic concepts of interpretation of the tracing to detect abnormalities of the gum and teeth by means of percussion and palpation and interpretation of dental radiographs; Mental Health - capable of screening for gross mood change, disoriented patterns of behavior of speech. Takes brief psychiatric, drug, alcohol abuse history. General knowledge to identify a particular mental disorder such as depression or anxiety and provides emergency treatment and care. Will assist and work collaboratively with the Clinical Director in management of selected complex medical problems. Makes decisions concerning medical care needs of the inmate as well as decisions regarding special needs. Functions as a member of a primary care team with a Mid-Level provider, evaluates referrals from clinical staff, including physician assistants and nurses. Enters pertinent clinical information in an electronic medical records and must ensure data is current and legible. Providing Physician services may require a significant amount of walking or bending. Standing for two to three hours at a time may be required.
