Our Telemedicine Psychiatrists provide patient care via synchronous audio and video. The Psychiatrist provides a full range of psychiatric services to patients. Provides clinical consultation regarding identified cases to mental health and healthcare staff.

Education:

  • Doctorate in Psychiatry.

Experience:

  • Training and experience providing psychiatric services to an adult population.

Licenses/Certifications:

  • Must have and maintain current licensure in the state which the patient and provider resides.
  • Maintains a current DEA number. Must maintain privileges.
  • Maintains CME requirements for continued medical practice in the state.
  1. Responsible to provide psychiatric services as required and within the standards of professional psychiatric and medical care.
  2. Responsible to abide by the security regulations of the facility, the regulations of the institution(s) to which psychiatric services are provided, and the policies and procedures of The Company.
  3. Responsible to cooperate with the Director of Psychiatric Services, Corporate Medical Director, Regional Medical Director, Regional Mental Health Director, Health Services Administrators, and Mental Health Coordinators to ensure uniformity of mental health services.
  4. Responsible to provide documentation of psychiatric services to permit monitoring of compliance with policies and procedures of The Company
  5. Evaluation and treatment in a timely manner of patients referred for psychiatric services by mental health or medical staff.
  6. Documentation of all psychiatric evaluations and/or treatment in patient’s health record utilizing the approved psychiatric templates/forms.
  7. Documentation of all psychiatric evaluations and/or treatment in patient’s health record utilizing approved psychiatric templates/forms.
  8. Documentation of patient’s consent to treatment on the appropriate form to be placed in the health record when psychotropic medication is prescribed.
  9. Coordination of medical consultations and lab work needed with the Health Services Administrator and Site Medical Director as needed.
  10. Monitoring of patient’s prescribed psychotropic medications to assess treatment effectiveness and medication side effects by psychiatric interview at least every 90 days.
  11. Provide supervisions and oversight to psychiatric nurse, if such a position is utilized at psychiatrist’s assigned facility.
  12. Ensures progress note documentation in Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or on approved paper form is in SOAP format, and is problem oriented.
  13. Ensures documentation is dated, timed and signed.
  14. Ensures verbal or telephone orders are countersigned within one business day.
  15. Follows state telemedicine requirements.
  16. Ensures HIPAA compliant telemedicine encounter.
  17. Presents in professional attire during telemedicine encounter.
  18. Conducts encounter from private workspace devoid of personal items, auditory or visual interruptions.
  19. Conducts encounter in location with adequate connectivity and lighting.
  20. Must be able to apply principles of critical thinking to a variety of practical and emergent situations and accurately follow standardized procedures that may call for deviations.
  21. Must be able to apply sound judgment beyond a specific set of instructions and apply knowledge to different factual situations.
  22. Must be alert at all times; pay close attention to details.
  23. Must be able to work under stress on a regular or continuous basis.
