We are the largest employer in Lancaster, as well as Fairfield County. Outside of the Metro areas, we are the largest inpatient healthcare facility in the counties contiguous to Fairfield and in the remainder of the region, which extends south to the Ohio River. We offer state-of-the-art technology, including a 64-slice CT scanner. Our Emergency Department sees approximately 52,000 visits per year, and is staffed with a group of physicians who all live in the area and only work at our facility. These physicians are very skilled and do a terrific job of managing cases and limiting calls to primary and referring doctors unless absolutely necessary. We provide care in most specialties, with the exception of open cranial surgery, burn care, and severe trauma. Because the Columbus Trauma Centers are all nearby, we are able to stabilize critical trauma patients at our facility, and then transport them by air. **Community:** Fairfield County's rich history, vibrant culture and warm summers offer plenty of opportunity to celebrate outdoors with a wide variety of festivals and arts and entertainment events. Our community is a growing area southeast of Columbus. The area offers a diversity of cultural amenities found in much larger cities, yet still maintains its small-town charm. Fairfield County contains more than 1,000 acres of beautiful parks, which are perfect for picnicking, hiking and enjoying the great outdoors. Our historical park district features a former presidential cemetery, a section of the Ohio and Erie Canal, five of the county's 18 original covered bridges and a gristmill that boasts the nations largest all-wooden waterwheel. Fairfield County has a wide variety of festivals and celebrations that take place throughout the year. Featuring world-renowned music performances, arts, food, celebrations of local history and more, there's always an excuse to have a great time. There are plenty of recreational activities to keep local residents busy. Activities for families and singles include golfing on one of our seven golf courses within the county, shopping at one of our numerous historical districts, unwinding on Buckeye Lake or enjoying a ride on 9.5 mile Fairfield Heritage Trail bike path. If you would prefer to spend a day riding the waves, head towards to Buckeye Lake, which is located the northeastern corner of Fairfield County. This 3,100-acre lake is designated as an unlimited horsepower lake, but pontoons, sailboats, canoes and rowboats also are common.
