Progressive Hospital System is hiring a cardiac perfusionist for our growing program!

Our heart program performs around 80 on pump hearts a year, which include CABGs, Aortic and Mitral Valve replacements, and the occasional ascending aortic repair.

The Candidate will work 5 8 hour shifts typically, sometimes less. Candidate will work 1/2 weekend. There are 2 other FT Cardiac Perfusionist. We are a small hospital, family friendly feel, nice people! Great career opportunity!

The clinical perfusionist is a skilled professional, qualified by academic and clinical education, who operates extracorporeal circulation equipment during any medical situation requiring the support or replacement of the patient's cardiopulmonary/circulatory function and ensures the proper physiologic management of the patient by monitoring all necessary variables. The perfusionist functions to support, treat, measure, or supplement the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system of the patient.


REQUIREMENTS

  • Completed training at an accredited perfusion program and is certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP)
  • Certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and possesses a strong educational background in Physics, Human Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics.
  • The perfusionist is required to possess effective communication skills, and the ability to work in a sometimes stressful work environment.
  • On-call responsibilities will be required, as well as the ability to work a minimum of eight hours a day or more, depending upon case and staffing requirements.
  • While on call, the perfusionist is required to maintain a 30-minute response time to the operating room.
  • Holiday, evening, and weekend call, and work hours will be required when necessary.
  • The perfusionist will complete all continuing education requirements in accordance with the ABCP in order to maintain certification.
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status. Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area’s policies and procedures
  • This position is classified “at risk” for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
