Job Details
- Support the PCP in maintaining the quality of care for PM patients while decreasing the risk of narcotic dependency
- Provide full scale clinical and administrative pain management services.
- Provide critical bridge role between physicians, specialty areas/departments and responsible for building a strong presence and sense of interdisciplinary cohesion and collaboration.
- Triage patients through the ED and cover all hospital consultations.
- Continually evaluate and work to improve the quality of PM services within the program
- No Call
- Patient Census: approximately 25 PPD
- Schedule: M-F 8-4 or 9-5
- Inpatient care
- Daily rounding on all in-patients requiring PM consultations, daily management, and d/c order.
- Articulate and implement an in-patient clinical service.
- Emergency
- Triage all patients through the ER and vigilantly move patients to appropriate specialties – PT, interventions or surgical consultations.
- Responsible for decompressing the ED, decreasing “medical back pain admits” and coordinating on-campus or off-campus patients’ care from the ED.
- Pre and post-operative consultations
- Facilitate pre-operative pain consultations for patients scheduled for surgery
- The service is designed for patients who have a history of uncontrolled S/P surgical pain, hx of addiction, hx of chronic pain or thought to have the probability of severe pain due to the nature of their intended procedures.
