Job Details

  • Support the PCP in maintaining the quality of care for PM patients while decreasing the risk of narcotic dependency
  • Provide full scale clinical and administrative pain management services.
  • Provide critical bridge role between physicians, specialty areas/departments and responsible for building a strong presence and sense of interdisciplinary cohesion and collaboration.
  • Triage patients through the ED and cover all hospital consultations.
  • Continually evaluate and work to improve the quality of PM services within the program
  • No Call
  • Patient Census: approximately 25 PPD
  • Schedule: M-F 8-4 or 9-5
  • Inpatient care
    • Daily rounding on all in-patients requiring PM consultations, daily management, and d/c order.
    • Articulate and implement an in-patient clinical service.
  • Emergency
    • Triage all patients through the ER and vigilantly move patients to appropriate specialties – PT, interventions or surgical consultations.
    • Responsible for decompressing the ED, decreasing “medical back pain admits” and coordinating on-campus or off-campus patients’ care from the ED.
  • Pre and post-operative consultations
    • Facilitate pre-operative pain consultations for patients scheduled for surgery
    • The service is designed for patients who have a history of uncontrolled S/P surgical pain, hx of addiction, hx of chronic pain or thought to have the probability of severe pain due to the nature of their intended procedures.

Requirements

  • Board Certified or eligible

  • Active NY license or ability to obtain

  • Must have Fellowship completed in Pain Management
