Seeking a BC/BE Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join a state of the art facility near Arlington, VA. This hospital performs 60 to 80 open heart procedures per year. These are split amongst 3 cardiac Anesthesiologists. On most days the cardiac Anesthesiologist can expect to be in bread- and butter General, Ortho, GYN, URO and Vascular cases, almost always supervising CRNA's. there are approximately 15-weekend calls per year. All overnight shifts divided equally amongst 10 call-taking Anesthesiologists, with post night day off. In addition, Cardiac home call is divided amongst 4 Cardiac Anesthesiologists. Weekday shifts include ( Will have about one of the following shifts per week) D1-D5-These are day shifts, starting at 7 am. End times vary, but usually, D1 is out before noon, D2 is relieved by 2-10 doc, D3 is relieved by 3-11p doc, D4 and D5 will leave shortly after, depending on number of running rooms, Weekday Call- usually will be assigned as Charge for that day, end time varies based on case volume, possibly 4p-6pm, 2p-10p,3p-11p plus backup until 7a the next day but rarely gets called back in, Night- 10p-7a, post night after (off)
Strong Regional Skills Required, Overnight Calls is roughly 1 in 10, Assists in the directing and coordinating of activities in the Anesthesia Department, Responsible for the medical management of patients who are rendered unconscious and/or insensible to pain and emotional stress during surgery and other medical procedures.
