Job Details
- Must be licensed as an MD or DO
- Must possess a valid Drug Enforcement Administration registration (X Designation)
- BE/BC in addiction medicine
- MD/DO with a minimum of two years’ experience in substance abuse/recovery programs or experience in an agency or healthcare area providing substance abuse services required
- Provide the delivery of quality addiction medicine to patients
- Set an example of compassionate and knowledgeable medical care
- Stay abreast of developments in addiction medicine and regularly communicate relevant information to other providers in the center
- Be available for consultation to caregivers for routine care and for emergent medical problems
- Participate in meetings as appropriate and/or as requested by our medical director
- Set an example for compassionate care and will be responsible for the delivery of medical services to patients based on the group’s policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Provide case management for assigned patients and will be responsible for medical, educational, and administrative services as assigned
- Report directly to the medical director for assignments, consultation, and staffing and will work closely with other medical, mental health, laboratory, and administrative staff as required
- Intake and assessment of new patients suffering from substance abuse
- Request necessary history and treatment plans from outside providers when indicated
- Create a plan of care/treatment plan for new patients
- Direct patient care including medical assessments and follow-ups
- Manage an appropriate caseload including paperwork
- Prescribe appropriate medications to assist in recovery as indicated by intake/assessment
- Work collaboratively with team members to diagnose, manage, and evolve patient care
- Work collaboratively with outside providers
- Identify patient needs requiring medical management in addition to their substance abuse/recovery needs, i.e., dual diagnoses
- Order and analyze appropriate laboratory tests, when indicated
- Facilitate educational groups
- Travel to assigned sites
- Maintain confidentiality
