The University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria (UICOMP), Department of Pediatrics is seeking two (2) Pediatric Critical Care physicians. Additional cardiac training or clinical experience with post-operative cardia care are highly desirable. The position is an academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate or Professor level.

The ideal candidates should be board certified or board eligible in pediatrics and board certified or eligible in Pediatric Critical Care. He/She should hold or have applied for an Illinois physician’s license.

This academic positions include patient care services, teaching, and scholarly activities. The positions will provide clinical consultation services for critically ill patients hospitalized in the unit including children with complex congenital heart disease. The ideal candidates will also provide consultation services for physicians and patients in the region with problems requiring critical care.

The primary teaching hospital of UICOMP is the OSF Healthcare Children’s Hospital of Illinois, a 156-bed facility that offers over 50 pediatric programs and services, including one of the largest pediatric surgery programs in Illinois. It is supported by a growing referral base of Pediatric Sub-Specialists, with an expanded, comprehensive faculty at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria. Children’s Hospital of Illinois is the only full-service tertiary hospital for children and adults with congenital heart disease in downstate Illinois. The candidate will have an opportunity to join a growing division and Children’s hospital, in an outstanding family friendly and warm community.

The PCCM unit is a 32-bed, with an active Cardiac surgery, Pediatric surgery, and Neurosurgery programs. ECMO, NO, HFOV, CRRT, hemodialysis, and peritoneal dialysis are available modalities. The Division is a multidisciplinary team that works well with other services. High quality patient-centered care, and healthy work environment are our priorities.
