Major/Essential Functions

  • Inpatient: Infectious Disease consultations at UMC hospital
  • Outpatient: ID clinic, HIV clinic, travel and adult vaccinations.
  • Supervise, teach, and mentor residents and students to the ID service.
  • Conduct and publish peer reviewed clinical research.

Occasional Duties

  • Inpatient- General Internal Medicine attending 2-4 weeks at a time.
  • Outpatient-ICU coverage of a prison unit of TDCJ.
  • Lectures and conferences in ID and Internal Medicine for residents and students of all levels.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • MD/DO or MBBS.
  • Successful completion of an Infectious Diseases Fellowship Training Program


Academic degree as defined by the academic unit and as appropriate for the position held. Demonstrated record of effectiveness as a teacher, a record of peer reviewed publication and/or peer-reviewed creative activity which has contributed to the discipline or field of study, to the candidate’s intellectual and artistic development, and to the quality of the academic enterprise; a record of professional service appropriate to the discipline; promise of growth in teaching and research or artistic and creative activity

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in Infectious Diseases
  • The successful candidate should have exemplary clinical skills, evidence of scholarship, and a strong interest in teaching and clinical research

License

  • Current permanent or temporary Texas medical license or eligible for Texas medical license.
