Merritt Hawkins’ Department of Academics has partnered with the University of Kentucky College Of Medicine and its Department of Neurology for this key recruitment. This is a unique opportunity to lead the Division of Child Neurology. The school has an incredibly rich academic environment with expanding clinical and research centers.

The University of Kentucky is one of few universities in the nation to have all six health science colleges (Medicine, Dentistry, Health Sciences, Nursing, Pharmacy and Public Health) all on one campus and is well-positioned to pursue inter-professional health care education and collaborative research. UK has developed a 20-year, $2.5 billion plan to construct an innovative academic medical campus to advance the growth of research and health education university-wide.

The College of Medicine, located in scenic Lexington, Kentucky, consists of 7 basic science departments, 17 clinical departments and 19 interdisciplinary centers/ institutes/programs. The UK Markey Cancer Center was designated by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) in 2013, becoming the only NCI-designated cancer center in the state. KCH is the regional referral and pediatric care center for Central and Eastern Kentucky, with more than 70 pediatric sub-specialists and over 300 pediatric nurses as well as respiratory therapists, dietitians, social workers and pharmacists, all of whom are dedicated to caring for children.

Department of Neurology

The Department of Neurology’s vision is to be a national leader in delivering high value, comprehensive, patient-centered neuroscience care though multidisciplinary collaboration, innovation and research, education and service. Our missions are: to provide cutting edge neuroscience-related care to the citizens of Kentucky and beyond; to educate healthcare professionals, post-graduate fellows, residents, medical students, and the public about neurological disorders; to innovate and develop new knowledge to help reduce the burden of neurological disorders on our patients and society; and to provide service to the citizens of Kentucky.
Our clinical and research programs are rapidly expanding and include all areas of neurology including stroke and related disorders, epilepsy, memory and cognitive disorders, multiple sclerosis and related disorders, neuromuscular disorders, neuro-oncology, neuropsychology, headache, concussion and traumatic brain injury, and neuro-ophthalmology.
The Department of Neurology has a large diverse faculty, engaged, highly motivated trainees, and dedicated staff committed to excellence and working together in an environment that combines the science and art of medicine.

Ideal Candidate

Qualified candidates will have the clinical expertise and an academic track record necessary to qualify for the rank of associate professor within the UK College of Medicine. Ideal candidates will have administrative experience with a demonstrable track record of success and a commitment to building a collaborative program.
