At Lehigh Valley Health Network, you can provide community care and impact lives of your patients! We are seeking an experienced surgical Physician Assistant who has exceptional clinical and interpersonal skills to join our cardiothoracic team in Allentown, PA.

We lead the region in the life-saving technology known as ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and have specialized programs in women’s heart health, sports cardiology, advanced heart failure technologies, peripheral vascular and venous care and rhythm disturbance care.

Job Responsibilities:

The Physician Assistant will be responsible for the care and management of cardiothoracic surgical patients both in the ICU and OR settings during the daytime hours. The ideal candidate will have previous cardiothoracic surgery experience.

  • Work in conjunction with the attending cardiothoracic surgeon, and non-surgical providers, for medical care of cardiothoracic surgical patients.
  • Able to harvest vein conduits with endoscopic technique
  • Able to assist in a variety of cardiothoracic surgical operations
  • Perform initial evaluation, history, and physical examination of all assigned patients.
  • Placement of invasive monitoring lines including central venous catheters, dialysis lines, and arterial access.
  • Participate in ongoing education, quality, and research projects.
  • Contribute to service related databases as indicated.
  • Participate in education of patients and families during their inpatient course.
  • Support the mission and goals of Lehigh Valley Health Network.
  • Schedule is day time hours and distributed on-call nights

Job Qualifications:

  • Must be Board Eligible or Board Certified
  • A Valid Pennsylvania Medical License or ability to obtain one is required
  • Graduate from accredited educational program for Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants
  • Surgical cardiothoracic experience required
