We are seeking General Surgery Physician Assistants to join our Surgical Team located near beautiful Palm Springs, CA!! We are a Magnet status facility hospital!!
Schedule is full time M-F 8:30am-5:00pm

The Physician Assistant (PA) will have a direct surgical responsibility. Operative responsibilities will be focused predominantly on general, orthopedic, and other surgical services. These functions will be performed under a licensed physician in a surgical setting. PA works as part of the practice provider team.

PREOPERATIVE: Performs preoperative patient assessment and preoperative teaching for patient and family. Assists in scheduling of surgical procedures and work-ups as outlined by the supervising physician. Acts as liaison between surgical and medical staff, consulting services, other hospital departments and the patient and family.

INTRAOPERATIVE: Assures proper positioning and prepping of the patient. Assures aseptic technique throughout surgical procedure. Functions as first or second assist during surgical procedure. Transports patient to recovery area and communicates individual patient needs as appropriate.

POSTOPERATIVE: Assists surgeon in post-op management of patients. Regularly reviews patient's medical progress postoperatively and notes evaluation.
Communicates any deviation from normal clinical progress to appropriate attending physician for evaluation. Writes verbal orders and daily progress notes in a clear, concise, logical order as outlined by supervising physician.
