High Profile Cardiac Surgery Group seeking an experienced cardiothoracic surgery physician assistant!

World Class cardiac surgery facility with state of the art technology! This role is 80% Operating Room Based assisting the surgeons, however, the incumbent will also manage patients in the step down and outpatient, no critical care job duties. Excellent Quality of Life Schedule. The candidate will work only 3 12 hour shifts per week, 13 shifts in 4 weeks, about 2-3 night shift every 2 months, weekends are based on a rotating basis, holidays are based on a rotating basis. And NO ON-CALL!

MUST have endoscopic vein harvesting experience and have Cardiothoracic surgery physician assistant experience

The person MUST be able to work independently and with the team. He/She MUST be meticulous and efficient.

Under the supervision of a Medical/Surgical physician and within the PA competence, the PA provides medical services to adult cardiac surgical patients. In the operating room, he/she acts as the first or second-assist, open and endoscopically harvesting veins or arteries for CABG procedures, opening and closing the chest, cannulation, decannulation, etc. The PA is responsible for the planning and coordination of all aspects of the workup and care of the patients in the unit including management of MCS patients.


Educational Requirements:
Graduate from a PA program approved by Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation.
License/Certification/Registration Requirements:
Valid California PA license
PA certification issued by national Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants
DEA from the State of California.
Current BLS/ACLS Certification from the American Heart Association.


Experience:
Full command (verbal and written) of the English language.
Must have Endoscopic Vein and Artery Harvesting experience.
Minimum of one year acute hospital experience
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience with cardiac transplant medicine preferred
