World Class Group of Cardiothoracic Surgeons hiring an experienced cardiothoracic physician assistant or nurse practitioner!

Candidate must be proficient in Endoscopic Vein Harvesting! Our group does 500 pump cases annually, CABG'S, VALVES, LVADs, ECMO’s, all cardiothoracic surgical first assisting procedures will be the primary responsibility of the position! This position will cover the full continuum of care, cardiovascular OR, ICU and some pre/post op with a primary concentration in the OR. Estimated 70% OR time / 30% ICU/pre/post. Candidate will work 4 10 hour shifts per week, excellent quality of life schedule, on-call only 1/7!

The Physician Assistant may perform the following duties:


Surgical:

  • Engage in appropriate patient teaching as necessary.
  • Assist with surgical procedures as outlined in the delineation of privileges.
  • Harvesting saphenous veins and radial arteries
  • Femoral artery/vein exposures and cut down

Assist in open heart procedures

  • Engage in appropriate patient teaching as necessary
  • Assist with surgical procedures as outlined in the delineation of privileges.
  • Harvesting saphenous veins and radial arteries
  • Femoral artery/vein exposures and cut down
  • Assist in open heart procedures
  • Place central lines, arterial line, Swan Gantz catheter
  • Perform any and all other general duties and activities as outlined in the delineation of privileges


Education: Graduate from accredited physician assistant program with a master’s degree.

License & Certification:

  • Physician Assistant Certification (verified by the National Commission or the Certification of Physician Assistant – NCCPA or Nurse Practitioner Certification.
  • DEA license
  • BLS Certified, ACLS per delineation of privileges
  • Supervision Agreement with supervising physician(s)
  • Membership in professional organizations are desirable
