Job Description:

The primary focus of the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is to provide quality psychiatric care to patients in a multi-specialty facility.

Details:

  • Full-time, locum position
  • Monday through Thursday or Tuesday through Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
  • No weekends
  • Meet with mentally ill patient-inmates for crisis intervention, face-to-face interviews, etc.
  • Conduct evaluations including criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse case history to assess inmate’s current needs
  • Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations including clinical reviews, protocols, pertinent date reviews, and proper documentation
  • Monitor patient progress using SOAPE formatted progress notes
  • Perform mental status exams
  • Identify the relevant signs and symptoms of medical/psychological disorders
  • Examine prior mental health records, probation reports, court records, and other available documents
  • Consult with supervising psychiatrist with complex or serious cases
  • Provide medication as deemed appropriate for treatment
  • Interpret lab results
  • Work in consult with primary care medicine

Qualifications

  • Minimum of twelve continuous months of experience within the last three years
  • Proficient in the English language
  • Board Certified
  • Valid California Nurse Practitioner license
  • Active, unrestricted DEA
  • Current ACLS
