A health services network in New York City is currently seeking a licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join their growing team in Brooklyn. In this role, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for performing medical evaluations, conducting groups related to wellness and self -management, provides psycho-education to improve participants understanding and management of specific disorders.

About the Opportunity:

  • Start Date: ASAP
  • Schedule: 3 days a week
  • Hours: 9am to 5pm and12pm to 8pm
  • Setting: Mental Health Clinic
  • Population: All ages
  • EMR Used: Cerner

Responsibilities:

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will:

  • Review the appropriateness of the existing medication regimen through review of the medication record and consultation with the client and staff to prescribe and/or administer medication, including injectable and Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT Services)
  • Monitor the effects of the medication on the clients' mental and physical health, including measuring weight, height and blood pressure for clients
  • Document prescriptions, interventions, weight, height, and blood pressure upon every visit
  • Follow-up on referrals made on behalf of the participant and respond to all referrals in a timely and professional manner
  • Participate in the development of new service initiatives, including research, analysis, and preparation of written reports
  • Participate in all CCNS CQI and QA projects.
  • Track and maintain paperwork for special programs, such as City funded children's immunization and flu shots
  • Work collaboratively with the Psychiatrist and treatment team
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner (NP)
  • Master's Degree in Nursing or equivalent
  • NYS Nurse Practitioner license
  • Active Suboxone certification
  • Current CPR (BLS), First Aid certification
  • DEA
  • ANCC (American Nurses Credentialing Center) Certification
  • Computer savvy and Data Entry skills
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized

Desired Skills:

  • Bilingual (English and Creole, Cantonese Korean, Mandarin, Russian, or Spanish)
