A healthcare organization in New Jersey is currently seeking a licensed Physician Assistant (PA) to join their growing Oncology team at one of their facilities. In this role, the Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) will be responsible for providing patient care services, including: patient assessment; review of symptoms, history & physical assessment; planning & ordering of diagnostic testing; prescribing appropriate medication; and, recommending follow up care & subsequent visits.

Responsibilities:

The Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) will:
  • Document all findings, orders, medications prescribed, procedure results, and plan for follow in patient’s EMR (EPIC)
  • Attend monthly physician meetings
  • Review patient test results and responding appropriately
  • Handle telephone calls from patients, family members, referring physicians, and hospitals.
  • Assisting the physician in the hospital occasionally when needed
  • Provide follow up patient visits and see patients independently when indicated
  • Assist with after hour patient care
  • Counsel patients regarding therapeutic options, the risks and benefits of recommended testing, medications, Infusions therapies, and surgical procedures
  • Perform patient procedures, including medication injection and Infusion oversight & management
  • Perform other duties, as needed

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in an Oncology role / setting
  • Bachelor's Master’s Degree in a related field
  • NJS Physician Assistant (PA) license
  • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills
  • Patient oriented
  • Great interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly organized

Desired Skills:

  • Infusion experience
  • Working knowledge of Epic EMRs
