Description Reading Hospital, part of Tower Health, is seeking a Nurse Practitioner dedicated to acute hospital rounding and supporting an inpatient oncology team. The McGlinn Cancer Institute sees 2,100 new patients, and administers 60,000 cancer treatments per year.

We are looking for an intellectually curious, organized, compassionate nurse practitioner to join our inpatient oncology team. This person will be supported by a full-time oncologist, inpatient coordinator, clinical nurse, and nurse practitioner. We are primary a consulting service; we work collaboratively with our dedicated hospitalists and surgeons. Our goal is to individualize treatment for our patients based upon their cancer, stage of disease, functional status, and individual goals. For some patients, the goal of their therapy is cure, for others it may be to live long enough to see the birth of a grandchild. We work closely with a fully staffed palliative care department to help our patients reach their goal. We integrate patient care with our 7 outpatient medical oncologist, 3 radiation oncologist, and 2 gynecologic oncologist.

This is a clinical position and the majority of time will be spent in direct patient care. Clinical responsibilities include carrying out new patient consultations in collaboration with the rounding physician, or seeing hospitalized patients independently in follow up. As a consultant, you will enjoy working with the primary service, offering your recommendations, without being burdened with excess paperwork. There are one or two tumor conferences daily and you are encouraged to attend and contribute. Tower Health boasts the 7th busiest Emergency Department in the Country. As such, we see a great diversity of patients and human pathology. You will be taught what you don't know, and you will be encouraged to teach others. You will always feel supported. We often have medical residents and students on service, and we also have 3 oncology fellows in a joint program through Thomas Jefferson University. You will also see patients with blood and clotting disorder
Position Requirements Candidates must be a graduates of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with the ability to obtain a CRNP license in the state of Pennsylvania. Experience is preferred, but not required.
