ICU - Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner

Overview:
California Hospital Medical Center (CHMC) is a 316 bed, Level II trauma center and one of the major emergency care providers in the area with a full complement of specialty consultation services available. As one of the busiest Emergency Departments in the area, CHMC provides treatment to over 77,500 patients annually. The hospital which first opened in 1887, has 27 ED beds plus an 8 bed Fast Track unit. Here are some facts about CHMC:
  • 8 hour shifts but will eventually transition to 10 hour shifts
  • PA's/NP's will spend the first 2 months working side by side with an MD in the ICU
  • Average ICU census is 19
  • PA/NP will manage approximately 8-10 patients
  • On call services: Peds, OB/GYN, Surgery, Ortho, ICU, Cardiology, NICU
  • Excellent ED Nurses, Techs, and ancillary staff
  • Bedside Ultrasound
  • Cardiothoracic Surgery program
Requirements:
  • California Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner license
  • DEA License with California registration
  • Board Certification (NCCPA, AANP or ANCC)
  • ACLS/PALS certification
  • At least one year of ICU/Hospitalist experience OR General Surgery experience; will consider ER experience
  • Must have rounding experience

Compensation:
Advanced Practice Clinicians (APC) are employees of VEP. They receive an hourly base rate and an opportunity to earn productivity compensation at specific sites.
