Expanding Cardiothoracic Group in Beautiful Richmond, Virginia is hiring experience Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants!
Nurse Practitioner for the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery
To provide continuity of patient care under the supervision of the Cardiothoracic Surgeon in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of patient care.

Participate in AM and PM rounding on patients, including review of labs, vital signs, clinical events, telemetry, and addressing nursing concerns, Evaluate/triage potential CVICU admissions in ED, inpatient units, surgery, etc..Perform admissions history and physicals on patients from ED, direct admissions, and outside hospital transfers. Order diagnostic testing and lab work and follow-up on test results. Call/follow-up on consults from other specialties. Assist with the transition of care (i.e. transfer or discharge planning). Provide patient education, Evaluate transfers out of the CVICU to stepdown, Perform, assist with, and supervise unit-based procedures. Respond to codes in the CVICU. Participate in committees, to include the Critical Care Committee, Trauma, Cardiovascular Service Line Committee, Open Heart Case Reviews, and other pertinent committees. Assist in policy updates and reviews for the Open Heart Program. Participate in HAC reduction initiatives (ClABSI, CAUTI, C-Diff, etc…)Inform the surgeon of all changes in the patient’s condition. Collect data and write pertinent progress notes on charts. Complete discharge summaries. Make routine rounds independently and/or with the surgeon, assess the patient’s postoperative course and implement indicated therapy as determined by the involved surgeon.

LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible
License to practice as NP in the specialty area in the Commonwealth of Virginia*
Prescriptive Authority when required**
Current American Heart Association BLS Certification
Current American Heart Association ACLS Certification
