We have an exceptional opportunity for a full-time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our healthcare team at the Duane Waters Health Center, Jackson, MI. Duane Waters is am 152-Bed Inpatient facility which features acute, sub-acute and long term care. Infirmary and 24-hour Emergency Department staffed by ER providers. Average daily census is 136 patients. Duane Waters also has a Specialty Clinic, Oncology Program, PT, Ophthalmology, Dental and Mental Health Services.

Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants do admissions, discharge, acute evaluations, perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, triage, subspecialty referral and daily hospital rounds. Each provider sees acute patients daily, sub-acute weekly and extended care patients are seen monthly. Each provider sees and average of 10-15 patients per day. Staff physicians supervise NP's/PA's. Utilize NextGen, EMR system.

Qualifications of the Corizon Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:

Graduate of an accredited college/university NP/PA program with current certification /licensure in the State of Michigan

Maintains an active CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) certification.

Responsibilities of the Corizon Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant:

Corizon Health Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants utilize the medical model to meet a variety of healthcare needs with an ambulatory care as their primary focus. Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants work with a variety of healthcare professionals and security officers in a correctional environment.

Nurse Practitioners/Physician Assistants also

Respond to and initiate care for medical emergencies throughout the facility

Identify patient health problems and prescribes treatment under direction of a physician

Implement medical care utilizing therapeutic regimens approved by a physician

Provide education to patient, healthcare and correctional staff

Document all healthcare contacts

Adhere to safety and security policies and participate in disaster drills

Follow security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications

Delegate to and supervise other team members as appropriate

Adhere to Universal Precautions and other appropriate infection control practices
